I’m Nathan, a software engineer at Viasat currently working on hardware-accelerated network security (MACsec/IPsec encryptors) in Rust. Until recently, I’d lived in Orange County my whole life, but now I reside in North County. For non-SoCal readers, you can kinda think of North County as San Diego… but also not really.
My past is a bit odd. I was raised by many strange corners of the internet, and in hindsight, I spent far too much time being terminally online. It was pretty fun, though sometimes I’m surprised I’ve ended up relatively normal.
Most people online know me as a mapper for the rhythm game osu!, where I also went by the alias “sukiNathan” for a while. I eventually snagged the username “Nathan” from an inactive account as an exception after asking a staff member for it. I dumped a lot of time into this game from 2014–2024, with my activity gradually diminishing over the years. It’s a niche little world, but I’ve met many awesome friends through it, both local and even international. I also feel like I got to make a bit of a mark on the internet and bring some joy to many players. My most popular maps are these: 1 2 3
I’m still learning and growing a lot as a person. I’ll be dumping some thoughts here occasionally for fun.
